Centrally Located
Westend is centrally located in the Isle of Lews and is only a 30 minute to the famous Isle of Harris. This is an ideal overnight stop for cyclists on the Hebridean Way between Tarbert and Callanish. Also for walkers on the Hebridean Way between Laxay and Stornoway. By car Westend is nine miles from the port of Stornoway and nine miles from the enigmatic Callanish Stones. An hour’s drive will take you to the Butt of Lewis, the amazing beaches at Reef and Ardroil in Uig and the Iron Age house at Bosta, Great Bernera. The Iron Age broch and the Gearrannan Thatched House village are a short drive away. Westend is in a crofting township looking out over the majestic hills of Harris, a vista of stunning moorland and sparkling trout lochs. Magaidh and Hamish look forward to welcoming you at Westend.
SANDY BEACHES
The beautiful beaches on the Isle of Lewis and Isle of Harris are regularly voted among the most beautiful beaches in the world. They are only a short drive away. If you are a keen walker there are many moorland and coastal walks to choose from. There are sea life spotting trips and many outdoor pursuits to choose from. The area is popular for trout fishing with a myriad of fresh water lochs to chose from, or perhaps a day permit on the nearby salmon rivers.
CYCLIST & WALKER FACILITIES
Westend Achmore is an ideal overnight stop for cyclists on the Hebridean Way between Tarbert and Callanish going North, or Ness to Tarbert going South. We provide bike racks, kitchenette, and drying facilities. Also for walkers on the Hebridean Way, Westend is 100 metres off the path going through Achmore, on the Laxay to Stornoway section of the walk. A Pop up Tea Stop will be available at Westend between 12-4pm from May to September.

ABOUT US
Magaidh is a native Gaelic speaker from the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland a tour guide, researcher and Bed and Breakfast host. Hamish hung up his sea boots and dropped anchor in Achmore. He worked on fishery protection vessels of Labrador and in South Georgia.
